This was going to be his first masque ball as na almost married man so Silas wanted to look his best and he wanted to look his best so when news of the ball came about he had his servants start work on a green suit with gold lace trimmings and matching pants. His hair had been properly brushed back and held in place in a low ponytail with a gold clasp as he stood in front of the mirror in his room and slowly placed on his mask and gave himself one last look over. He smiled and let out a small laugh as he knew that his fiancé Colette was more then likely having three servants helping her get dressed and that he had been told to meet her at the ball but he had to guess which lady she was. Silas knew she loved little games like this and that he was going to play along because he found it fun. This event was huge it was to celebrate the anniversary of the building of this great palace and all it meant to the royal family and the people of France. Yes tonight would be a grand celebration and everyone will have a good time. Opening the door to his quarters Silas started down the halls and started to make his way to the party. He just hoped everything did go well and someone like his friend Prince Feder did not flake on his own fiancé and not show up. Silas had been teasing the man about his nerves and about the Spanish Prince’s own wedding but Silas did that because how nervous about his own. Colette was going to become his wife and he could not be any happier. The music and laughter from the party started to reach his ears the closer Silas got and when he approached the doors the two men opened them and he was greeted to such a site it took his breath away. The grande ballroom had been transformed into a place of such beauty there were candles and flowers al over the place fans of colored feathers it was like they transformed this room but really what would one expect from a place such as this. Walking in Silas looked around the room at all the ladies each one wearing a mask making finding his lady love not as easy as he thought. Standing there he looked around and stood there listening for her laugh the one thing he could pick out in a crowd. Ahh,masquerades. How Colette loved them. Especially when they celebrated an anniversary of a place she knew almost all of her life. Naturally she had to be here and it was the first public event she would go to as an engaged woman. But she hoped this would be the last event as Colette Fournier. She was so excited for her upcoming wedding,it was strange, yes but could anyone blame her? She was engaged to the man of her dreams. Silas. Her French knight in shining armor. So she was excited to meet him here tonight...or rather him meeting her. Colette arose that morning, feeling brighter and alive than ever. She hadn't any plans throughout the day so she was just planning on relaxing before the ball. After a whole day of just arranging things with her estate and other such things, she had started to get changed. Her maids made up a bath with a rose scent to it. Colette got in a relaxing bath and just took her time in just relaxing, picturing how well the night was going to go. Soon after she was out and dried off. Soon she was in her undergarments for the dress and strings were being pulled on her corset. Colette always hated this part. Soon after that, she was dressed in her gown she specifically chose for tonight. The theme for tonight was red and black. Her two favorite colors. Within an half hour, she was all dressed and ready to go. She had risen, hair done, gown all done up and she was ready to visit the night. She had grabbed her red fan and she was out to the ballroom. As she got there, she was greeted by the most beautiful set up in the ballroom and of course the moment she got there, the two of the French princesses had grabbed her and caught her in the art of conversation. They had asked if the rumors were true. If she really was engaged. Colette took out her fan as she fanned herself as she showed them the ring that Silas had given her for her engagement ring. Colette grinned and laughed with them as they all began to gossip. The oldest princess asked if Colette would mind herself holding her bridal shower. Colette was stunned at this but of course there were friends in high places. Colette was about to add something else when she saw a familar fiqure in the ballroom now. Colette knew he was masked but she could spot Silas from a mile away. She knew her fiance well. Colette smiled and curtised to the princesses as she said,"Please excuse me,ladies. I have a fiance to meet with this evening." Colette grinned and walked through the crowd as she covered the bottom of her face with her fan as she walked towards Silas, curtisying to him when she got close enough. "I believe, monsieur, you're expecting someone. Perhaps I can help." Colette's mask Colette's hairstyleColette's dress

As Silas stood there doing the polite thing and talking to other people and smiling and laughing at bad jokes he then heard it. He heard the one voice he would recognize in a sea of other people. Turning slowly he saw those eyes looking at him from above a fan and just looking at his future wife shivers ran up his spine. His right hand reached out slowly as Silas lifted her free hand to his lips and kissed it holding her hand there for just one moment. “Such a vision of beauty before my eyes I am not sure I am worthy of this.” she said lowering her hand but still holding onto it. There may have been dozens upon dozens of people filling the room but right now Silas only cared about one and that was the lovely creature before him. The gown she had on was a deep shade of wine and made of he knew the best silk and if at all possible it made her more beautiful.
In his head this husband to be was counting down the days till they would be married. “I would know you anywhere my love. The gown had made looks amazing but then you always do. Ma magnifique français est levee.”He told her with a smile. There was still so much buzz about their coming wedding and how someone finally was able to capture the heart of Colette and make her smile. Him and Colette were two people who thought they would never find love but then they found each other and the rest became palace history and yes palace gossip. What his future bride did not know was at the very moment Silas was having made for his wife a engagement present of a dozen colored crystal roses to resemble a dozen real ones he hoped it would be ready soon.

Colette stood up when Silas turned around and noticed her. She took a moment to look at her fiance's outfit and she heard her own breath flutter as her eyelids fluttered as well. He looked very handsome as always and even though they were masked, she still admired those amazing eyes of his. Colette curtised when Silas took her hand and kissed it. Colette blushed at his words, standing up. She noticed he did hold onto her hand longer than necessary but she didn't care. Silas could hold her hand as long as he wanted. She wouldn't mind it at all if he did. She smiled as she replied to him,"You amaze me with your words,my love. It is I who is not worthy of you. I think I must be one of the luckiest women in this room."
Colette was as excited as her future husband most likely was about their wedding but she had heard more gossip and talk that he did most likely. Colette had been apart of French court life for quite a while and since she was good friends with the French royal family, she was often the buzz of court talk. Their wedding was much the talk. It would be quite the social event. Especially since she got offers from different artists to help decorate the reception and the ceremony itself. In a way....Colette liked it. It showed her that people still cared in the happiness of others. Colette only reminded herself every day that it'd be soon...soon she'd be married. Soon she and Silas would be married. It was only a matter of time.
Colette had a small sly smile as Silas compliment her. She looked down briefly and then looked back up as she said,"Why thank you. You know red is my favorite color and couldn't pass up wearing such a lovely gown. It brings out the best in me." Colette thought she might say something in French as well. "Et tu es si beau, mon beau chevalier français." Colette grinned,a flirtatious tone in her voice. "Je pense que je pourrais être l'envie de toutes les dames d'ici. Mais je suis aussi le plus chanceux dame ici, sinon dans toute la France. " All of Colette's words were most certainly true.
Translation: And you look so handsome,my handsome French knight. / I think I might be the envy of all the ladies here. But I am also the luckiest lady here if not in all of France.
