• overthinking; it is more of an addiction to his imagination than anything else. thomas spends most of his spare time in his thoughts and daydreaming, for lack of better term.

HISTORY•

• everyone loves a tragic love story. the success of romeo and juliet could not be a better example of that. there’s just something about watching a person go through the highest point in his life and then be with him as things snowballed to heartbreak. perhaps it was why alijse pitied her younger son, as well as treated him with disdain – although that’s not something out of the ordinary, either. it was his own fault that his father disowned him. it was all his doing, not theirs. they were not to be blamed. stan, who represented the old days with a brighter tomorrow, was the better son; thomas was the black sheep of the family. all their neighbors in ede agreed, and frankly no one was much disturbed when the boy vanished without a trace, to some land that they didn’t care about with affairs they do not meddle in.
  
  
• but it would be proper to give the boy a chance to explain things in his point of view. thomas led a life that was quite unfair, with his (apparently) god-like older brother and a biased pair of parents. his schooling, though rudimentary, was enough to teach him about the things that he needed to know in life. he knew when enough was enough, when he was wronged, when he was passed over for stan—well. let’s simplify by saying thomas was not as stupid as his parents made him out to be. when newcomers went to their place – “nous sommes français!” – they had piqued thomas’s interest in a matter of minutes. especially the black-haired beauty, with prominent eyes that stopped his heart the moment he first saw them. there was a brief, yet understandable explanation: they were traveling around europe, selling their goods to whoever wanted them, and intending to return to france in a matter of months. naturally, thomas had to approach, and he did so one subtle morning when he spotted the beautiful lady loitering outside of the inn. they had a conversation, which sprouted into a mutual attraction that the couple cultivated during the days that the troupe stayed in ede.
  
  
• it was a sinfully pleasant experience for thomas, whose first time it was to have someone return affectionate feelings for him. in a quick manner (quick in today’s term, anyway) the pair found themselves falling deeper and deeper in love with each other each passing day. but alas, the end had to come sometime, and it was when the french band announced that they will be leaving in the next quarter moon to continue their journey. to say that thomas was forlorn would be an understatement, as he could truly feel his heart cracking into small pieces at the prospect of being left without his loved one. so they made love. his first time, and hers, as special as an evening graced with a blue moon.
  
  
• but it was forbidden.
  
  
• practically everyone found out, and they were both chastised for mingling with someone that was not one of their own. the people said that they were two people from very different worlds… and alijse and louis (who was oddly part french) would not have a son that had relations with a woman not from their village. so they disowned him, without preamble, without discussion. his welfare was about as important to them as the weeds in their garden. the woman went to one direction, and thomas trudged to the other. his travels led him to england, and because he wanted so much to spend time in the presence of others – never alone again, for solitude was his worst enemy – thomas joined the british army, which welcomed his foreign self. he was part of the few that were stationed to stay in versailles court.
  
  
• he never heard from the woman again, but if he had, he surely would have dropped everything and ran to her side without question. for he did not know that their short and sweet time together brew an equally beautiful daughter... without a father. little did thomas know, the woman lived just nearby versailles court, but it was an impressively enormous place filled with faces that were familiar and unfamiliar to the young private.
